A memoir of faith, fatherhood, and legacy
How a Father’s Faith and Final Goodbye Built a Legacy of Love and Protection

The story
I was seventeen, locked up in Campo, California, with my freedom gone and my future looking just as confined. I got down on my knees, asked God for one real chance at a normal life, and promised to serve Him in return. Then I learned I was going to be a father.
I named my son Markeith: “more than Keith,” a name that carried hope, not history. This book follows what came after: the eight-hour drives to be present, the mistakes I own, and the faith I had to grow into. Through all of it, I never ran.
In July 2015 a phone call changed everything. I spent seven days at Markeith’s bedside, and this book does not look away from them. Out of that loss came this story, and a question for you: who is your reason why, and what do you want them to carry forward?

“I made many mistakes. But I never ran. I never quit. And I never stopped loving Markeith.”

Being a father was never about getting it right. It was about showing up, even when the ride got rough.
Years after his promise, Keith realized God had kept His word and he hadn’t kept his. The book is honest about what it took to start.
“Life goes on. Will your legacy?” The final chapters ask what the people who depend on you will be left holding, and what you can do about it now.

The companion
112 guided pages of Scripture, reflection, and action. Name the people who depend on you, say what has been left unsaid, and put your family’s important information in one place.
